Mark your calendars, smartphones fans, because we now know the date on which the OnePlus 2 will be revealed.
OnePlus will show off its next flagship Android smartphone on July 27 at 7:00 pm PT/10:00 pm ET. As you know, OnePlus is no stranger to unique marketing tactics, and so it should come as no surprise that the company’s got something special planned for its OnePlus 2 reveal.
Rather than a regular announcement on a stage in front of an audience, OnePlus is going to unveil the OnePlus 2 in virtual reality. You’ll be able to look around as the phone is revealed “and maybe even find a few hidden Easter eggs.”
To help people participate in the VR event, OnePlus designed its own VR headset that’s tailored to the OnePlus One. The company says that it didn’t cut corners on designing the OnePlus Cardboard headset and that it’s “definitely losing money on this,” but there’s no word yet on how you can get one. OnePlus says that it’ll share more details on the OnePlus Cardboard soon.
As it did with the OnePlus One, OnePlus has slowly been trickling out spec details for the OnePlus 2 ahead of its debut. So far we know that the phone will have a Snapdragon 810 processor, a USB Type-C cable, and that it’ll cost more than $322. The other details of the device are a mystery for now, but considering that the OnePlus One was well-specced for its time, I’m betting that the OnePlus 2 will also have a respectable feature set.
