DROID Turbo owners, I’ve got some news to share with you. Several DROID Turbo folk are reporting that they’ve been invited by Motorola to take part in “an early preview of a new software release.” That’s the phrasing that Moto uses when it’s got an update to test, meaning that the DROID Turbo has a new update coming.
As for what’s inside this update, well, no one knows for now. It could be the long-awaited Android 5.1 Lollipop update. It could be a simple maintenance update that’ll fix a few bugs and infuriate a few DROID Turbo owners. For now it’s a mystery.
Owners of the DROID Turbo have been waiting a while for their Lollipop update. The phone launched in late October 2014 with Android 4.4.4, and then Motorola revealed in March 2015 that the device would skip Android 5.0 and go straight to 5.1. Since then there have been a multitude of rumors about when the update might be released, but all that Motorola has said is that it’s still in testing. There’s a chance that this latest soak test could finally be the 5.1 update, but it’s best that DROID Turbo owners not get too worked up until we know for sure what’s inside the update. Stay tuned.
