LG has released some unusual smartphones in the past, like its G Flex with a curved body and self-healing back. Now the Life’s Good crew has continued its tradition of interesting handsets with a phone that’s all about sound.
The LG Band Play features a set of 1 watt speakers that LG says will provide a rich and clear sound. LG’s also throwing a pair of premium earphones in with each LG Band Play so that you can still enjoy quality sound during those times that you can’t blast tunes out of the phone’s main speaker. And when you don’t want any sound at all, LG’s got you covered with its Focus Mode, which will block all data and calls and will automatically send a rejection message if someone does try to ring you.
The rest of the LG Band Play is a mid-range device with a 5-inch 1280x720 display, 13-megapixel rear camera with Laser Auto Focus, 5-megapixel front camera with wide angle lens, quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB of RAM, and a removable 2300mAh battery. Buyers will get 16GB of storage built-in, with the ability to add more using the Band Play’s microSD slot.
The LG Band Play is launching in South Korea this week with Android 5.1 and a price of 394,800 South Korean Won ($355 USD). The Band Play is an interesting device, not only because of its beefy speaker, but also because it offers premium earphones when many smartphones no longer come with any earphones at all.
