Moto X (1st Gen.) owners, Motorola’s got some good news to help you start your weekend.

Motorola’s David Schuster has announced that the Moto X (1st Gen.)’s Android 5.1 rollout has officially begun to retail devices in the US and Brazil, as well as Rogers in Canada. Because the Moto X is going from Android 4.4 to Android 5.1, this update is going to be a biggie, bringing with it a number of notable changes. Those include a material design UI makeover, improvements to notifications, a new-look Recent Apps, the ability to select Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections from the Quick Settings menu, and much more. If you’ve got a Moto X (1st Gen.) in one of the aforementioned regions, you can check for this update by heading into Settings > About phone > System updates. Because this update just started its rollout, it might take some time before it appears. It’s also worth noting that only owners of the unlocked Moto X in the US and Brazil will be getting his update now. Carrier-branded versions will have to wait a bit longer because they have extra testing to go through.
