Right now in the Android world, there is a lot to love. Google’s mobile operating system has come a long way over the years, evolved and grown up, and it’s no longer “just another contender” in the mobile space. Android is a force to be reckoned with, with hardware from manufacturing partners built to match the software they’re running.

Just look at the smartphones that companies are putting together these days. Samsung, for instance, finally made some major changes to its design decisions and launched phones that a lot of people like holding. More than that, Samsung has accepted the level of premium that other manufacturers had previously embraced, and in the end it’s a win across the board for consumers.

LG, too, has really stepped its game up when it comes to hardware and the features baked into its software. While some (including myself) might still say that the proprietary software that LG includes with its flagship is still not very good, it’s getting better, too. (Just look at how long we had to wait for Samsung’s TouchWiz to get to a point where it’s really usable.) The premium leather options for the G4 really make it stand out, and that camera only makes it an even better option for a potential phone buyer.

So, like I said earlier, there’s a lot to love these days in the Android Army.

I was talking to a friend of mine last night, and he suggested that one of the best phones he’s ever used was the Galaxy S6, and that he loved it more than any other phone he’s ever used. I agreed with him that the Galaxy S6 is pretty great, especially when compared to the previous handsets that Samsung has launched, but I just couldn’t acquiesce that the Galaxy S6 is my most-loved phone. Not even for Android.

So, I got to thinking about which phone was my favorite to hold and actually use on a daily basis, and while I had a lot of options to choose from, I think I finally settled on a tie: The original HTC Hero, with that chin and all; and, another from HTC, the original Incredible.

Both of these phones really stood out to me, and I almost wish HTC would rerelease them with current specifications and current software. I will admit, though, that while I’m not a fan of huge displays on smartphones, that both of those phones would probably drive me crazy with how little the screens are.

Maybe it’s about time for HTC to change up the design of the One series and launch a new Hero to save the day.
