Last month, Google announced a major Android Wear update for adds Wi-Fi support, always-on apps, and more. The update has previously only been available on the LG Watch Urbane, but now it looks like it’s rolling out to more watches.
Reddit user Verdes8891 has posted an image showing that his ASUS ZenWatch received the Android 5.1.1 update yesterday. A couple of other ZenWatch owners appear to have gotten the update as well, but I haven’t seen reports of any other Android Wear watches getting Android 5.1.1 quite yet.
If you’ve got an ASUS ZenWatch, you’ve got a couple of options when it comes to updating to Android 5.1.1. You can either wait for the over the air update to hit your device, or you can grab the OTA link that's been shared by Android Police and manually load it onto your watch if you’re comfortable doing that sort of thing. It’s worth noting that the aforementioned Wi-Fi support in the update won’t work on the ZenWatch, though, because ASUS has said that the ZenWatch doesn’t have Wi-Fi.
How many of you have an ASUS ZenWatch? If you do, what do you think of it?
