A new web version of Google Play Music is rolling out today with an emphasis on artist photos and album artwork. As you can see in the images in this post, album artwork is nice and big in this new Google Play Music, and you’ll be greeted by even bigger photos of the artist or band.
Another change made to the way artists are viewed can be found when you’re in the Artist view. When you navigate there, you’ll see that artists are now displayed in circular images, much like your contacts and avatars on other services. Google UX designer Bryan Rea told The Verge that this change was made because it makes artists and bands “first class citizens” and because “circles feel more organic than sharp-edged squares and rectangles.”
This new web version of Google Play Music is now rolling out, so if you haven’t already used the service yet today, you should head over there and check it out. It looks pretty nice and is much more in line with Android and Lollipop’s Material Design than the old look.
