It’s Double G4 Teaser Wednesday! Hours after LG posted a brief teaser video that focuses on the G4’s leather rear, the Life’s Good crew has shared a longer clip that highlights features of its custom LG UX 4.0.
There are four features shown off in this new LG UX 4.0 video. The first two are for the G4’s camera, which the narrator says LG spent “a lot of time” on. There’s Quick Shot, which lets you double tap the rear volume down button to instantly take a photo at any time, even when the screen is off. Then there’s Gesture Interval Shot, which allows you to close your fist twice and have the phone take four selfies in succession, then let you view them and save the ones that you like.
The third feature shown off in this video is Ringtone ID. The goal of Ringtone ID is to make it so that you don’t have to look at your phone’s screen to see who’s calling when you’ve got an incoming call. LG UX 4.0 achieves this by creating a special ringtone for any contact that you choose.
Finally, Quick Memo+ helps you to save a part of a web page. You can select Quick Memo+ from the browser’s Share menu and it will strip out ads and other extraneous content, making it easier to find the content that you want and then save it.
LG's been beefing up its custom Android user interface in recent years, adding more and more features that it says will make life easier for users. LG UX 4.0 looks to continue that trend, especially when it comes to the camera. We already know that LG is pretty proud of the G4's camera hardware, which offers a 16-megapixel sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, and now we know that it'll have software features like Quick Shot, Gesture Interval Shot, a Gallery that'll automatically create photo albums for you, and an Expert Mode Camera that'll have a lot of fine-tuning controls. Considering that the narrator of this latest LG UX 4.0 video says that "LG put a lot of work into the camera features of UX 4.0," I wouldn't be surprised if even more add-ons are revealed next week.
