Remember those Samsung Galaxy A tablets that were announced in Russia last month? Well Samsung today revealed that they’re coming to the U.S., too.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablets are available for pre-order from Samsung.com starting today, and they’ll launch in stores like Best Buy and Amazon on May 1. The 8-inch model is priced at $229.99 and the larger 9.7-inch version will set you back $299.99. Both sizes will be available in Smoky Titanium, Smoky Blue, and White. You’ll also have the option of picking up a bundle with a 9.7-inch Tab A and an S Pen for $349.99 starting May 17.
So what about specs? Both tablets have similar feature sets that include a 1024x768 screen resolution and a 4:3 aspect ratio. They’ve also got a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 5-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras, 16GB/32GB storage, microSD slot, 1.5GB of RAM, and Android 5.0 Lollipop. The smaller 8-inch model is powered by a 4200mAh battery, while the larger 9.7-incher has a 6000mAh juice pack.
The Galaxy Tab A tablets certainly aren’t the most high-end Android slates that Samsung offers, but they make up for their lower-end specs by coming with price tags that aren’t too hard on your wallet. So if you’re on the hunt for an affordable Android tablet, the Galaxy Tab A family may be worth a look.
