Looks like the Google Handwriting Input app isn’t the only new Android app that Google is launching today.
Google’s new Android for Work app is now available for download from the Play Store, letting users keep their personal and work data separate and encrypting all of their work-related data. Included are features like dedicated work mail, calendar, contacts, tasks, and more, and all of the features can be managed by a business’ IT staff. Those IT folk can also control app distribution and the ability to wipe work-related data from a device without disturbing the personal data.
Google announced Android for Work back at the end of February, but what makes today’s app release notable is that it enables Android for Work on devices running Android 4.0 through 4.4. Android for Work support is built in to Android 5.0, but if a business has anyone on Android 4.0 through 4.4, they’re going to need this Android for Work app. And now that it’s available in Google Play, it can be used by pre-Lollipop devices and kept up to date by Google.
