Sony and T-Mobile U.S. have been buddy-buddy for a while now, with T-Mo being the sole U.S. carrier to offer many of Sony’s flagship Android phones. Over the past couple of years, T-Mobile has offered the Xperia Z, Xperia Z1S, and the Xperia Z3. Unfortunately for Sony, one of those devices is now out of T-Mo’s lineup.
The Sony Xperia Z3 is now gone from T-Mobile’s online store, disappearing approximately six months after it first launched there. T-Mobile confirmed the Z3’s exit on Twitter, saying that the device is “no longer available” but offering no explanation for the move. T-Mobile does still offer pre-owned versions of the Xperia Z and Xperia Z1S.

Unlike several other high-profile Android device makers, Sony hasn’t gotten its flagship phones on all four major U.S. carriers. Sony did get a variant of the Xperia Z3 — called the Xperia Z3v — onto Verizon that’s still available as of this writing, but it’s still a bummer for Sony to see T-Mobile stop offering it current flagship smartphone, especially since Sony’s mobile business is having a bit of a rough time lately. Perhaps the exit of the Z3 is just a way of making room for the upcoming Xperia Z4? We’ll just have to wait and see.
If you’re interested in getting a GSM version of the Xperia Z3, you can still snag an unlocked model from Sony’s online store for $569.99. It’s got support for HSPA+ 850/900/1700/1900/2100 and LTE bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/13/17/20, and it should play nicely with both AT&T and T-Mobile in the U.S.
