After rolling out network improvements like Wideband LTE and 700MHz A-Block spectrum, T-Mobile is now focusing on improving its network coverage map too.
T-Mobile has launched its Next-Gen Network Map, a coverage map that includes customer-reported and verified information. T-Mo also updates the data twice a month and includes speed test data from “trusted” third-party apps. The map uses all of that coverage with the goal of providing accurate maps with up-to-date information. In all, T-Mobile says that its new coverage map utilizes more than 200 million customer usage data points each day.
T-Mobile’s coverage page looks to be suffering from a case of the Mondays, because I’ve had trouble getting the Next-Gen Network Map to load up. The new map sounds like an interesting offering, though, because in some cases you may not know when a carrier’s map was last updated.
How accurate have you found carrier coverage maps to be in the past?
