Sony may have taken a bit longer than other OEMs to get its Android 5.0 rollout going, but now that it’s started, Sony is pushing Lollipop hard.
Just one day after the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact began getting Android 5.0, Sony has started sending Lollipop to the Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. Sony says that the update is currently rolling out in the Nordic and Baltic regions, but I’m sure that it’ll begin hitting more locales in the coming weeks.
Sony’s Android 5.0 update for the Xperia Z3 includes a new look that’s a mixture of Material Design and Sony’s custom UI, new notifications, guest mode, Android for Work, and improved storage control. It’s likely that the updates for the Xperia Z2, Z2 Tablet, and Z3 Tablet Compact all include similar goodies.
If you’ve got one of these three Sony devices, you can check for your Android 5.0 update by heading into Settings > About phone > Software updates > System updates.
