Mobile World Congress doesn’t officially start until March 2, but that hasn’t stopped Lenovo from revealing some new Android hardware at the show.
First up we’ve got the Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70, a 10.1-inch tablet with a 1920x1080 resolution and a 64-bit 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek MT8165 processor at its core. This 10-inch Android 4.4 slate’s also got 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a microSD card slot, a 7000mAh battery, and a multi-speaker sound bar on its backside with Dolby Atmos technology. There’s an 8-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front-facing shooter here as well.
Lenovo says that the Tab 2 A10-70 will launch in April at $199 for the Wi-Fi-only model and $279 for the 4G LTE-enabled version. An update to Android 5.0 is planned for June 2015.
The second new Android tablet announced by Lenovo is the Tab 2 A8. As you might guess from the “8” in its name, this slate has an 8-inch display with an HD resolution. Also included is a 64-bit 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT8161 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8/16GB of storage, a microSD card slot, 5-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, and a 4290mAh battery. The Tab 2 A8 features Dolby Atmos sound tech like its larger sibling, but rather than a rear sound bar, it’s got two front-facing speakers.
The Lenovo Tab 2 A8 will launch in June with Android 5.0 in tow. Pricing will be set at $1129 for the Wi-Fi model and $179 model. Both the A8 and A10-70 will be sold at major retailers and Lenovo’s website.
