The Grand S3 is ZTE’s new flagship smartphone, and along with its beefy spec list, it offers a pretty unique unlock method.
The ZTE Grand S3 features Eyeprint ID, a feature that uses the phone’s front-facing camera to recognize the unique vein patterns in the human eye and unlock your device. ZTE partnered with EyeVerify on this feature, and the company says that it’ll be used with mobile payments and other services in the future.
Speaking of the front-facing camera, the Grand S3 features an 8-megapixel shooter on its face, as well as a 16-megapixel rear camera with a dual LED flash. Also on the front of the device is a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 display. Inside of the Grand S3’s 9.8mm-thick body is a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a microSD card slot, and a 3100mAh battery.
ZTE says that the Grand S3 is currently available for purchase online in China at a price of 2999 RMB ($477 USD). There’s no word on when or if the Android 4.4 device will launch in other regions.
