Ever since Inbox by Gmail launched in October 2014, there have been a few features that users have been really clamoring for. Google has announced that its crossed a couple of those features off the list and that it’ll be eliminating another soon.
Inbox by Gmail now supports Apple’s iPad. An update to version 1.2 recently began rolling out to iOS users with support for the iPad as well as some bug fixes and performance improvements. In addition to this iOS tablet support, the web version of Inbox now works with Firefox and Safari. Previously, the web app only worked on Chrome.
“But what about Google Apps support?!” you ask. Worry not, friend, because Google’s Sundar Pichai says that Inbox support for Google Apps accounts will arrive “imminently.” And he would know, because Pichai is Google’s SVP of Android, Chrome, and Apps.
Google Apps support is likely the biggest feature that folks want added to Inbox. While Google has been giving Inbox invitations out pretty heavily lately, folks with Google Apps accounts — like those for a job — are unable to use Inbox, meaning that they’re unable to use Inbox as their sole email app. Thankfully, the feature will be coming soon. I just hope that it brings a unified inbox option with it.
