UPDATE: In a blog post announcing the update, Microsoft says that more phones will be added to the Windows 10 preview with each new build. Microsoft has also posted an official hands-on video with the update that you can view above.
Today’s the day, Windows Phone users. The Windows 10 Technical Preview for phones is now available.
Microsoft has officially released the Windows 10 Technical Preview for phones, meaning that you can now get your first taste of Windows 10 for smartphones. In order to install the update, you’ll need to be a Windows Insider and you’ll also need the Windows Insider app. Finally, you’ll need one of the compatible phones, which currently include the Lumia 630, Lumia 635, Lumia 636, Lumia 638, Lumia 730, and Lumia 830.
Windows 10 for phones is a major update from Windows Phone 8.1. It brings with it some nice visual changes, including support for full wallpapers on your Start screen along with translucent Live Tiles and a refreshed Settings app. There are quite a few usability features included as well, such as actionable notifications, a keyboard that can be resized and moved around the display, voice-to-text, and more quick toggles in the Action Center.
