Sony today took the wraps off of the latest member of its Xperia family, the Android-powered Xperia E4.
One of the main features of the Sony Xperia E4 is its 2300mAh battery, which Sony claims will last for two days. If you’re going to be away from a charger for a bit longer than that, you can use the E4’s Ultra STAMINA Mode to disable all but the core functions of the phone and stretch its battery life out for up to a week.
Sony also placed a focus on the Xperia E4’s camera. The device offers a 5-megapixel camera that’s backed up with Sony’s suite of camera features that includes HDR, Live on YouTube, Timeshift Burst, Sweep Panorama, and more. Meanwhile, the front of the E4 is equipped with a 2-megapixel camera that can be used with a dedicated selfie app.
Rounding out the Xperia E4’s spec list is a 5-inch 960x540 IPS display, 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of built-in storage, a microSD card slot and Sony audio features like xLoud and ClearAudio+. Sony is prepping single SIM and dual SIM versions, both of which will support HSPA+ cellular speeds.
The Sony Xperia E4 will launch in mid-February with Android 4.4.4 and your choice of black and white models. Overall it looks like a nice, affordable Android phone that could be a good option for folks that spend a lot of time away from power outlets. Also worth noting is the design of the E4, which is more rounded than some of its Xperia siblings and looks like it could snuggle nicely into your hand.
There’s no word yet on a U.S. release for the Xperia E4, but international markets should start seeing the phone on shelves here in a week or two
