In mid-October, Google gave us a new dessert in the form of Android 5.0 Lollipop. Since then we’ve gotten a couple of small x.x.1 updates, but it looks like the next Lollipop update could be a bit bigger.
Five different references to “Android 5.1” have been discovered on the Indonesian version of Google’s Android One page, including three devices that are said to include that version. Before you simply pass those off as a typo, though, you should look at the photo below, which shows a freshly unboxed Nexian Journey Android One phone in Indonesia that is indeed running Android 5.1 (build LMY29F).
So yeah, it certainly looks like Android 5.1 is coming. What tweaks it’ll bring with it is still a mystery, but some bug fixes will almost assuredly be in there. There’s also a chance that we could see a more significant change or two since this is an x.1 update, but we won’t know for sure until Google makes it official. When that’ll happen is still a mystery, but the fact that Google is already teasing the update with a “5:10” time in its promo images suggests that an announcement could come soon.
