Cricket Wireless today announced some big plan changes that include increased high-speed data allotments and the arrival of a plan that includes 20GB of high-speed data.
Starting today, Cricket is boosting the high-speed data allotment of its Basic Plan from 1GB to 2.5GB, while the Smart Plan’s allotment is growing from 3GB to 5GB. The Pro Plan’s high-speed data allotment is holding steady at 10GB, but if that’s not enough, Cricket is now offering an Advanced Plan that’s got 20GB of high-speed data. Cricket notes that the Advanced Plan will only be available for a “limited time”.
Pricing for these plans is set at $40 for the Basic Plan, $50 for the Smart Plan, and $60 for the Pro Plan and Smart Plan. If you enroll is Auto Pay, though, you can get a $5 credit every month.
Finally, Cricket is offering a free month of service for switchers. Anyone that switches to Cricket and signs up for a Smart, Pro, or Advanced plan will get a free month of service after completing two months of service on one of those three plans.
In addition to these plan tweaks, Cricket is slashing the prices of many of its smartphones. From January 30 to April 9, the Nokia Lumia 530 and Lumia 635 will be free after mail-in rebate. The Moto G with LTE will be priced at $24.99 after mail-in rebate, the HTC Desire 510 will be $79.99 after mail-in rebate, and the LG Optimus L70 will have its price cut to $79.99.
Cricket’s new offers look pretty nice for lighter data users and heavy ones. On one end of the spectrum, you’ve got the Basic Plan with 2.5GB of high-speed data for just $35 after an auto-pay credit, and on the other end you’ve got the Advanced Plan with a whopping 20GB of high-speed data, which is actually the same price as the 10GB Pro Plan for the limited time that it’ll be available. When combined with its smartphone deals, this could be a good time to check out Cricket if you’re in the hunt for a new operator.
