Rumors have suggested that Samsung may be planning to give its Galaxy S6 and all-new design and use materials like metal and glass in its construction. Samsung hasn’t commented on those reports, but the company has teased that it’s got something up its sleeve for mobile.
In its announcement of its Q4 2014 earnings last night, Samsung teased that its IT and Mobile Communications Division has a plan for 2015 to help it recover from a weak 2014. According to Samsung, its mobile arm will differentiate its products with “new materials and designs.” Samsung says that it’ll also streamline its product lineups.
Samsung has caught some criticism in the past for its heavy use of plastic on its mobile devices. We’ve seen that change recently with the launches of the Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy Note 4, and it sounds like Samsung might be planning an even bigger change for the Galaxy S6. Exactly what the company has planned is still a mystery, but rumors of a refreshed design that may include metal and glass piques my interest. Luckily, the rumor mill has suggested that the GS6 might debut at MWC in March, so it may not be long before all is revealed.
Between the rumors of a toned down TouchWiz and a new design, are you getting excited for the Galaxy S6?
