We’ve seen several rumors pop up over the years that’ve suggested Google wants to become a wireless carrier or MVNO, and today we’ve got one more to add to the pile.

Three sources speaking to The Information claim that Google is getting ready to sell wireless plans to consumers. It’ll do so by purchasing wholesale access to Sprint and T-Mobile’s networks, tipsters say, which would make it an MVNO. The service is reportedly codenamed “Nova” and is aimed at offering lower prices and better customer experiences than carriers currently offer.

As I mentioned before, we’ve heard rumors of Google creating its own MVNO several times for several years, and today’s rumor is no different. That doesn’t mean that we could still see a Google MVNO happen, and if Google were to launch an MVNO, it’d be interesting to see what kind of plans and service it would offer given Google’s name and size. For now, though, all we can do is speculate.
