Sony’s got a history of releasing purple versions of its smartphones, including the Xperia M, Xperia Z Ultra, and Xperia Z2. The Xperia Z3 bucked that trend, launching in white, black, copper, and green versions, but it looks like a purple version might be in the works too.
Several images posted to Chinese site ePrice [Google Translate] claim to show a purple version of Sony’s flagship Xperia Z3. The device has a black front just the like black, copper, and green versions of the Xperia Z3, but around back it’s got a nice purple hue. It’s said that Sony is planning to release the purple Xperia Z3 in time for the Lunar New Year, which is on February 19.
As I mentioned before, Sony’s got a long history of releasing purple smartphones, and so a purple version of the Xperia Z3 could please fans of the brand and reinvigorate interest in the Z3 partway through its life. There’s no word on which countries could get the purple Xperia Z3, but hey, importing is always an option.
