HTC said back in November 2014 that it’d begin pushing Android 5.0 to its One (M8) and One (M7) devices within 90 days of Lollipop hitting AOSP, and it looks like the company has indeed reached its goal.
Mo Versi, HTC’s VP of Product Management, has confirmed that the Android 5.0 and Sense 6 update for the HTC One (M8) unlocked and developer editions have received approval from Google. Versi says that the update will begin going out over the air tonight, but as evidenced by PhoneDog reader “Da Big Diesel”, some folks are already getting the update.
The update brings with it a bump to Android 5.0, lock screen and heads-up notifications, a new look Recent Apps, support for searching in the Settings app, and more. The update bumps the One (M8) to Android 5.0.1 — software version 4.16.1540.8 — and it weighs in at 584.83MB.
This update is a biggie, and so if you’ve got an HTC One (M8) that’s an unlocked or developer edition, you should probably head into your Settings app to see if you’ve got a Lollipop treat waiting for you!
Thanks, @daorderdillon!
