Apparently it’s tough for device makers to contain their excitement for CES 2015, because just hours after Alcatel Onetouch revealed a new multi-OS smartphone and a new smartwatch, Archos has announced some new mobile hardware of its own.
The device you see above is the Archos Diamond, which Archos says is “the best 4G smartphone ever under £200” (that’s around $307 USD). For that price, you’re getting an Android smartphone with a 5-inch 1920x1080 IPS display, octa-core processor, 16GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, 4G connectivity, and a 16-megapixel rear camera.
Alongside the Diamond, Archos has unveiled the 80b Helium tablet. Priced at “less than £150” (that’s $230 USD), this 4G Android tablet is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor.
Arches says that it’s got several other devices planned for CES 2015, including “a full range of 4G smartphones” like the 45b, 50b, and 50c Helium phones and the 70 and 101 Helium tablets. All of those devices will be sold at “affordable prices.”
So there’s some of the new products that Archos will have on offer in 2015. While details are still light on many of them, the Archos Diamond looks like a nicely-designed smartphone that runs near-stock Android. Its bright yellow body is appealing, and its 5-inch screen ought to please folks that aren’t into the whole phablet trend that’s been exploding in mobile lately.
