Following its official announcement in early September, the Lumia Denim update for Windows Phone has officially started rolling out.
Microsoft says that Lumia Denim is now rolling out to “a limited number of devices in selected markets.” Yeah, that’s pretty vague, but the Redmond firm says that we’ll see a wider rollout to all WP8.1 Lumia smartphones starting in early January, following carrier approval.
Microsoft today also detailed the camera features that’ll included in the Lumia Denim update for the Lumia 830, Lumia 930, Lumia 1520 and Lumia Icon. Those additions include a faster Lumia Camera app with a delay of milliseconds in-between taking photos, Moment Capture for capturing 4K video at saving frames at 8.3 megapixels, Rich Capture for simplified photo taking that includes Auto HDR and Dynamic Flash, and some new imaging algorithms that’ll result in crisper photos.
Also included in the Lumia Denim update is the ability to access Cortana with the phrase “Hey Cortana” and added features for Glance Screen that include Bing Weather and Bing Health & Fitness data. Overall the update looks like a nice addition for Lumia smartphone owners that’ll increase the photo-taking capabilities of their phones, which is one feature that Lumias are often known for.
