T-Mobile’s in-flight texting capability launched with several compatible phones in mid-September, including the LG G3. Now T-Mo is working to bring the feature to its older smartphones too.

T-Mobile is now pushing an update to the LG G2 that adds in-flight texting support. Unfortunately for you T-Mo G2 owners hoping for a bump to Android 4.4.4 or even Android 5.0, that’s not happening today, because this update will keep you at Android 4.4.2.

In order to install this update to version D80120G, you can head into Settings > General > About phone > Update center > System updates > Check now. While this update isn’t huge in terms of its feature set, the ability to use T-Mobile’s in-flight texting is a nice addition, especially with the holidays going on and lots of folks flying to see loved ones.
