Last month, we learned that all Lumia-branded Windows Phones will be updated to Windows 10 when it’s released. The thing is that Microsoft hasn’t really announced what new features we’ll see on Windows 10 for phones. Thankfully, the rumor mill is happy to fill us in.
According to “multiple sources” speaking to Windows Central, Microsoft plans to implement a feature called Mixview — also known as “flyout tiles” — to Windows 10 for phones. A tipster describes the feature as one that’ll display three new tiles above a regular app tile when the original tile is pressed in a special place. Those extra tiles could show things like notifications, messages and more. Pressing the original tile in its special place could make those extra tiles disappear.
These new Mixview tiles sound like they could make for a really nice addition to Windows Phone. Live Tiles as they are right now are good for displaying information to you without making you go into an app; these Mixview tiles could take that a step further by letting you interact with an app without having to actually launch it.
Windows 10 is expected to launch sometime in early 2015, so expect more news about the update to be revealed in official and unofficial methods until then. What features would you like to see Microsoft add to its phones in Windows 10?
