Remember those red and white BlackBerry Passport models that went up for pre-order earlier today? Well if the sight of those phones made you stare at your iPhone with contempt, the folks at BlackBerry have an offer for you.
The BlackBerry Passport Trade-Up Program will launch on December 1 and will be available through February 13. As the program’s name suggests, it allows you to trade in your iPhone and get credit to be used toward a BlackBerry Passport. BlackBerry will offer between $90 and $400 for iPhone models from the 4s to the 6, and the company will throw $150 on top of those values. Here’s how the trade-in values will look:
The value of your iPhone will vary based on its condition. BlackBerry notes that the device must be fully-functional, have no liquid damage, have a working LCD and a valid ESN, IMEI or MEID. You’ll also need to purchase a BlackBerry Passport from Shop BlackBerry or Amazon between December 1 and February 13. Finally, your total credit will be paid to you in the form of a Visa Prepaid Card.
While these trade-in value for the older iPhone models aren’t great on their own, the $150 BlackBerry Top-Up makes them a bit more palatable. And while you might be able to get more if you sell the phone yourself, BlackBerry’s trade-in offer could be much faster and smoother than doing it on your own.
