Meizu today took the wraps off of its newest smartphone, the MX4 Pro, and the device has a spec sheet to back up its name.
The Meizu MX4 Pro boasts a 5.5-inch 2560x1536 screen resolution that Meizu points out is “better than normal 2K,” which is 2560x1440. The MX4 Pro is powered by an oct-core Exynos 5430 processor with four 2GHz ARM Cortex-A15 cores and four 1.5GHz ARM Cortex-A7 processors. Also included is 3GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB/ 64GB of storage, a 20.7-megapixel rear camera with a Sony IMX220 Exmor RS sensor and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. There’s also a 3350mAh battery powering the whole shebang.
Meizu has thrown in an mTouch fingerprint sensor with its new smartphone as well. The sensor is made of sapphire glass and surrounded by a metal ring.
Meizu also touts “Retina Audio” as an MX4 Pro feature. The company includes an ES9018K2M DAC, OPA1612 amplifier and what Engadget describes as “high-end capacitors and resistors.”
Finally, the MX4 Pro runs Android 4.4.4 beneath Meizu’s custom Flyme 4.1 user interface. That custom UI offers voice commands, on-screen gestures that can launch apps and a SmartTouch feature that places a dot at the top of the UI that can be swiped horizontally to switch between apps, swiped up to go home and swiped down to show the notification panel.
The Meizu MX4 will cost CN¥2,499 ($410), CN¥2,699 ($440) and CN¥3,099 ($510) for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models when it goes on sale in China on December 6. Meizu hasn’t revealed when it’ll go on sale outside of China, but Meizu has said that it wants to break into the U.S. market, so perhaps we’ll eventually see the MX4 Pro make its way stateside.
