Device makers releasing their custom Android apps into the Google Play store seems to be the hot new trend lately, with companies like Motorola and HTC pushing their apps into the Play store for easier updating. Today HTC continued that trend by launching another one of its apps into Google Play.
HTC Weather is now available in the Play store. Just as you’d expect, it’s an app that shows you the current weather for your location by pulling info from AccuWeather. You can also check the weather in other locations around the globe, get 7 and 12-day forecasts and information related to humidity, real feel temperature, wind speed, and sunrise and sunset times.
Unsurprisingly, HTC Weather is only available to select devices, like HTC’s most recent smartphones. The app also requires Android 4.4 or higher.
HTC Weather looks like a simple, clean weather app that’ll fit in nicely with HTC’s Sense user interface. And now that it’s in the Play store, HTC can quickly push updates to the app without having to wait around for a full device software update.
Do you use a weather app on your phone or tablet? If so, which one do you use?
