Kyocera has become known for offering ruggedized Android smartphones, and its next device that’s headed for AT&T fits that profile perfectly.
The Kyocera DuraForce has a 4.5-inch 1280x720 impact-resistant display that can be used with gloved or wet hands, a quad-core 1.4GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 16GB of storage, a microSD card slot and a 3100mAh battery. It’ll come with Android 4.4.2 out of the box.
As I mentioned before, the DuraForce is ruggedized to take a beating and keep on ticking. It’s IP68 rated for resistance to dust and water, and it can be submerged in 6 feet (1.8 meters) of water for up to 30 minutes. Its body meets MilSpec 810G standard for protection against dust, shock, vibration, extreme temperatures, low pressure, high altitudes, humidity and more. The Kyocera DuraForce will launch online and in AT&T business channels on November 7 and in AT&T retail stores on November 21. Pricing will be set at $0 down and 24 payments of $16.63 on AT&T Next 18, 20 payments of $19.95 on AT&T Next 12, $49.99 with a two-year commitment or $389.99 without a contract. Business customers will be able to snag a DuraForce for $24.99 with Enhanced Push-to-Talk service.
