Good news, Android developers and tinkerers! Google has officially posted the Android 5.0 Lollipop SDK and updated Android L Developer Preview images.
First up, the Android 5.0 Lollipop SDK includes all of the tools and system images that you’ll need to make your apps look nice and play nice with Android 5.0. That includes the new Material Design, fresh APIs and the leanback user interface for Android TV apps.
Google has also posted updated versions of the Android L Developer Preview for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2013). The first release arrived in June, followed by a second in August, making this the third version of the L Dev Preview. The update is build LPX13D and, since it won’t be offered as an over the air update, you’ll need to wipe your device and flash it with this updated version.
These releases don’t mean much to us end users, but they’re big news for developers because they’ll help devs to prepare their apps for the launch of Android 5.0 Lollipop. Here’s to hoping that we see lots of Material Design-ified apps in the coming months!
