Apple has been testing iOS 8.1 with developers over the past few weeks, and today the Cupertino firm shed a bit more light on what it plans to include in the first major iOS 8 update.
Perhaps the biggest addition to iOS 8.1 is Apple Pay, which will launch on Monday, October 20. Apple will also include the public beta of iCloud Photo Library with iOS 8.1, which will allow users to keep all of their photos on all of their iCloud-connected devices and have all of their edits sync automatically. As you can see above, iCloud Photo Library will come with 5GB of storage free. Users will be able to upgrade to 20GB for $0.99 per month, 200GB for $3.99 per month or use one of the other tiers that go up to 1TB.
Finally, Apple says that the Camera Roll is returning in iOS 8.1. In iOS 8, the Photos app gained a “Recently Added” album but lost its Camera Roll app that allowed users to easily access all of their shots. iOS 8.1 will see the return of the Camera Roll.
iOS 8.1 will launch to the public on Monday, October 20, the same day that Apple Pay goes live.
