The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 recently made its way onto Korean shelves, and Samsung posted an unboxing video of the device to celebrate. However, one “feature” of the Note 4 that didn’t get mentioned in that clip is now making headlines.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 owners are noticing that some units have a gap between the display and metal edge that’s large enough to fit a business card. Normally we’d ping Samsung for an explanation about this apparent defect, but Samsung beat us all to the punch by including an explanation in the Note 4’s user manual. On page 180 at the end of the Troubleshooting section of the guide, Samsung includes the following information:
A small gap appears around the outside of the device case
That’s likely not the explanation that many Note 4 owners affected by this screen gap are expecting. What’s more interesting is the fact that this gap may grow slightly over time, which isn’t something that you want to hear about your near-$1000 gadget. It’s worth noting that not all Note 4 owners appear to be affected by this issue, and it’ll be interesting to see how widespread the “feature” is once the Note 4 launches internationally. Stay tuned.
