Remember that Samsung SM-A500 that leaked out in late August? Outside of its 1280x720 resolution, details about the device were light. Today the rumor mill has provided a bit more info about the SM-A500, though, and if you’re a fan of the Galaxy Alpha’s design, then you’ll likely be pleased with this latest news.
Sources say that the SM-A500 will be the next phone in the Galaxy Alpha line and that, when it launches, it’ll feature a “full metal body, without a removable back cover.” Samsung is known for using plasticky, removable back covers on its smartphones, so this device could be quite a change for the company.
Other purported specs for this SM-A500 are said to be a 5-inch 1280x720 Super AMOLED display, quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 8-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, 16GB of storage and a microSD card slot. The A500 is expected to be powered by a 2330mAh battery.
Should today’s leak hold true, the SM-A500 will have the specs of a mid-range smartphone. It’s all-metal build could make some folks forget about its spec list, though. What will be interesting is seeing if Samsung ends up making more devices with partial or full metal bodies. We’ll just have to wait and see.
