Along with its new Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge, Samsung today introduced a new Gear product, the Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition.
As you might’ve guessed from its name, the Gear VR is a virtual reality headset. Created in collaboration with virtual reality tech company Oculus, the Gear VR uses the 5.7-inch QHD display on the Note 4 to be immersed in whatever content they happen to be viewing. The full rundown on the Gear VR is as follows:
Users will be able to access content through the Oculus Store. The available offerings will include IMAX film samples, HD music videos and concert footage, a live-action Cirque du Soleil performance and more.
The Samsung Gear VR is only compatible with the Galaxy Note 4 and connects to it over a microUSB 1.1 connection. The Gear VR will be sold in Frost White later this year and will be available from select carriers.
