Apparently the iPhone 6 may not be the only Apple product that’s going to be growing in size in the near future.
Sources speaking to Bloomberg claim that Apple’s suppliers are getting ready to begin production of an iPad with a 12.9-inch display. The production is reportedly scheduled to get underway by Q1 2015.
The current iPad Air features a 9.7-inch display and the iPad mini has a 7.9-inch screen. If this larger iPad does indeed become a real product, it’d be significantly larger than its iOS tablet peers.
So why is Apple going big? Tablet sales are beginning to slow for all manufacturers, which is at least partially a result of consumers holding on to their tablets longer than their smartphones. This larger iPad could be an attempt at jumpstarting iOS tablet sales, especially to businesspeople that could try to use it as a laptop replacement.
