After leaking out several times, including on Verizon’s own website, the HTC One (M8) for Windows is now officially official.
The HTC One (M8) for Windows is basically a Windows Phone 8.1 version of the Android-powered HTC One (M8) that launched earlier this year. That includes its spec sheet, which looks just like the Android One (M8)’s:
The One (M8) for Windows isn’t stopping at copying the One (M8) for Android’s look and specs, though. It’s also taking its speedy launch strategy. Verizon says that the HTC One (M8) for Windows will be available online starting at 12:00 p.m. ET today, August 19, for $99 with a two-year contract. Those that prefer a brick and mortar shopping experience will be able to snag a One (M8) for Windows from Verizon stores tomorrow, August 20. It’s also worth noting that the One (M8) for Windows is a Verizon exclusive.
It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen any new Windows Phone hardware from HTC, but the One (M8) for Windows is a great way for HTC to get back into the Live Tile game. The One (M8) is widely thought of as one of the best Android phones on the market, and so it should have no problem becoming a contender for the title of “Top Windows Phone,” especially since the hardware pickings on that platform are a bit more slim than with Android.
