Last week we saw Microsoft file a lawsuit against Samsung over unpaid Android royalties. Not everything going on in Samsung’s legal world is bad right now, though, as Apple and Samsung have agreed to drop some of their lawsuits.
Samsung said this evening that it and Apple are dropping all litigation against one another outside of the U.S. This doesn’t mean that there are any settlements or licensing agreements between the two, though, and they both plan to continue their legal war in the U.S.
While it’s kind of a bummer that this long war between Apple and Samsung isn’t totally coming to an end, this agreement to drop non-U.S. litigation is still a pretty big deal. The two companies have filed lawsuits against one another in multiple countries around the globe, but tonight those are finally coming to an end. Here’s to hoping that we see a similar outcome with the U.S. lawsuits.
Do you think Apple and Samsung will end their U.S.-based legal battles any time soon?
