Well, that didn’t take long. Right around a week after Google handed out the initial batch of LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live units at Google I/O, the first Android Wear update is now rolling out to both devices.
An Android Wear update to build KMV78V of Android 4.4W is now rolling out to both the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live. There’s been no official announcement of what this update entails, but those folks that are lucky enough to already own an Android Wear device haven’t noticed any major changes, which suggests that this may be a bug fix update to prep Android Wear for its public debut.
Even though the only folks that are seeing this update are those that received an Android Wear unit at I/O, it’s still good to see Google already pushing an update to the devices. It shows that El Goog knows that it’s important for Android Wear to make a good first impression on consumers and that the company can work quickly to get new software out there.
For those of you that are currently rocking an Android Wear device on your wrist, or if you just want to know how to update a unit manually once a device does make its way onto your person, you can check for the update by tapping on your wearables display and scrolling to Settings > About > System updates.
