Let’s face it: sometimes you’re not in a completely alert state when you’re riding public transportation. That could be for any number of reasons, such as getting up early to go to work or just the situation of sitting by yourself in a silent vehicle as it stops, goes, stops and goes. Those situations can cause you to zone out and potentially miss your stop, but thankfully, Google’s got your back.
Google recently added a new feature to Google Now that offers to set an alarm for users riding public transportation. As noted by Android Police, Google Now knows your home and work locations, so it knows where and when you need to get off your ride. The app will sometimes pop up a card asking telling you when and where you need to get off and giving you the option of setting an alarm for right before you arrive there.
As with other Google Now additions, like the parking location reminder, this new public transit alarm feature will be useful to a certain set of people. In this case, it’s those that frequently use public transportation to get around. It’s awesome to Google continuing to pad out Google Now’s feature set, though, and serving the needs of different sets of users in the process.
