Ready for a Thursday mystery?
In response to a news story about the international Moto G automatically display the network name in its status bar, Punit Soni posted a screenshot to show that users can disable that feature in its recently-announced Android 4.4.3 update. Interestingly, the image metadata shows that the screenshot has a resolution of 1920x1080.
Why is that interesting, you ask? Because Motorola doesn’t currently offer any phones with a 1080p display. Soni is Motorola’s VP of Product Management, so you assume that he’d be using a Motorola device. That suggests that Soni is using some mysterious Motorola device with a 1080p screen.
Exactly what device Soni used to take the screenshot is a mystery, but there’s a chance that it could be the oft-rumored Moto X+1. That device is expected to be Motorola’s next flagship, and one of the upgrades that Moto could make from the X to the X+1 is upping the screen resolution from 720p to 1080p. Plus, with a launch rumored for September, I could see Motorola testing its new phone with its execs.
What do you think Soni used to take this screenshot?
