Sony today took the wraps off of the Xperia T3, an Android-powered smartphone that features a thin body made of “premium materials.”
Up front on the Xperia T3 is a 5.3-inch 1280x720 Triluminos display along with a 1.1-megapixel front-facing shooter. Meanwhile, the T3’s backside houses an 8-megapixel camera with Sony’s Exmor RS sensor.
Diving inside of the Xperia T3’s 7mm-thick frame, we find a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, a microSD slot, NFC, 4G LTE connectivity and a 2500mAh battery. Sony’s new Xperia is powered by Android 4.4 KitKat running beneath the company’s custom user interface that includes software features like Battery Stamina Mode, the Timeshift Burst camera mode and photo effects.
The Sony Xperia T3 will launch globally at the end of July in black, white and purple color options. Sony hasn’t made any announcements regarding the T3’s price, but so long as the device isn’t too hard on the wallet, the T3 could be a respectable mid-range Android phone. Not only does it have a large-but-not-too-large 5.3-inch screen, but it’s also got a fairly thin body that includes stainless steel.
