Details on Android Wear have steadily been trickling out ever since Google first announced the software in March. El Goog has now shed a bit more light on its wearable-focused software, publishing images and a brief video that cover notifications.
Over on the official Android Developers Google+ page, Googler Timothy Jordan has shared screenshots of some Android Wear notification examples. They include a Nest thermostat emergency alert, a Calendar event, a notification from the game Clash of Clans and a podcast playback alert. Each notification includes a little detail about the alert itself, and in the case of the podcast playback notification, users can pause or change tracks as well.
Google’s Android Developers team has also posted a short video that explains how to add notifications with multiple pages for Android Wear. Google explains that adding Android Wear alerts only requires a few lines of new code added to your existing app. Once added, these richer notifications can include stacks, multiple pages and voice replies.
The Android Wear notifications shown in these two reports look pretty useful, allowing a device to show lots of information using multiple, swipable pages. Support for Android Wear notifications sounds fairly easy to add to an existing app as well, which is exciting news for anyone hoping to jump on the Android Wear bandwagon early since it shouldn’t be too difficult for developers to add Android Wear support to their existing apps.
