AT&T has been busy covering the U.S. with its 4G LTE network as of late, but today the big blue carrier announced that it plans to spread its service to somewhere new as early as next year.

AT&T today said that it plans to launch an in-flight connectivity service based on its 4G LTE network as soon as early 2015. The service will utilize a new air-to-ground network in the U.S. that’s based on global LTE standards, and AT&T says that not only will its network give consumers a reliable network connection, but that it will also help improve communications between the plane and the ground.

In-flight Wi-Fi is pretty awesome stuff no matter how often you fly, but I’m sure that most folks would agree that it could still use some work. We’ll have to wait until AT&T launches its air-to-ground network to see how it performs, but anyone that’s interested in improving Internet use while in the air has my attention.
