Last month, Republic Wireless teased that it planned to launch the Moto G sometime in April at a price of $149 without a commitment. Today Republic revealed the exact date on which the Moto G will become available for purchase, and guess what? That date is today.
The Moto G is now available from Republic Wireless in both 8GB and 16GB flavors. The former model will set you back $149, while the latter is priced at $179. As for color options, you can have any hue you want as long as it’s black.
Spec-wise, the Republic Wireless Moto G is similar to the model that’s already been released on carriers like Boost Mobile and Verizon. That means that it’s packing a 4.5-inch 720p display, 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 5-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front cameras and a 2070mAh battery. It comes preloaded with Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
Today’s launch of the Moto G on Republic means that the Wi-Fi-focused operator now sells both of Motorola’s latest handsets. The Moto X launched back in November at a price of $299, and while that’s a good price for a no-contract X, the arrival of the Moto G means that folks with a tight budget can get themselves a respectable handset too.
The Moto G is available from Republic Wireless at the link below. Shipping is expected to begin in one to two weeks.
