Rumors about iOS 8 and the features that Apple may include with it have been flying around in recent weeks, but it looks like we’ll have to go through at least one more iOS update before it.
A new report from 9to5Mac reveals that Apple is prepping an update to iOS 7.1 that features the version number 7.1.1. Devices running iOS 7.1.1 have begun appearing in website analytics, and with the number of visits increasingly recently, it’s suggested that the update could roll out sooner rather than later.
As for exactly what’s included with the update, well, that’s a mystery for now. However, because it’s just a 0.0.1 update from iOS 7.1, it’s likely that the upgrade is bug fixer.
Meanwhile, a separate report claims to have information on a new feature that may come to iOS in the future. Sources speaking to Bloomberg claim that Apple is working with Shazam to build song identification support into iOS. One source went on to say that the feature would be accessible through Siri, allowing users to ask “What song is playing?” and get an answer.
