Remember that Verizon promo material that urged us to "get ready to hit refresh" for the new HTC One? Well if a new rumor is to be believed, ol' Big Red may be the only U.S. carrier hitting refresh on March 25.
A tipster speaking to HTC Source claims that Verizon will be the sole U.S. carrier to offer the new HTC One when it launches on March 25. The device is expected to go on sale at 1:00 p.m. on that date, just like the aforementioned marketing materials teased.
As for the other three major U.S. operators, it's said that Verizon will have an exclusive on the new One "for a couple of weeks," meaning that AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile customers may have to wait until early or mid-April before they can pick up HTC's latest. This report lines up with one that was posted by Droid-Life last week.
It's always kind of a bummer when carriers get exclusivity on handsets because it prevents customers of other carriers from being able to enjoy the device. That's especially true when it comes to flagship devices like the new HTC One. The bright side is that, if this rumor is true, Verizon's exclusivity period on the new One will be fairly short-lived.
Are you planning on buying the new HTC One? If so, which carrier will you be picking it up from?
