Last week we got wind of a new Samsung wearable known as the "Activity Tracker" that's expected to do things like count steps, measure sleep efficiency and alert the wearer to incoming calls and messages. Today the Activity Tracker is in the news once again, but instead of appearing in another leaked document, the device was shown off by Samsung itself.

German blog Stereopoly was able to spend some time with the Activity Tracker during a Samsung Roadshow 2014 event. The unit looks just like it did in the leaked slides that surfaced last week, sporting a squarish shape and five LEDs that can convey alerts to the user. The device can also be removed from its rubber wristband housing and be inserted into a clip that can then be worn on a belt loop.

In addition to appearing at Samsung's Roadshow, the Activity Tracker has been put up for pre-order on Amazon Germany. Priced at €79.90, the Activity Tracker charges over a microUSB connection and is listed as having a battery life of approximately 5 days. The device is capable of pairing to a smartphone running Android 4.3 or higher using Bluetooth 4.0.

Samsung recently introduced a trio of new wearables in the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit that can deliver alerts and track things like heart rate. However, this new Activity Tracker looks like it's intended to be the low-cost, entry-level wearable meant for folks that want an affordable way to measure their fitness. There's no word yet on when Samsung is planning to actually launch its new Activity Tracker, but considering that it's already showing the device at events, I'm guessing that a full-on release isn't too far off.
